Detectives found 53-year-old Juan Ward’s car in the 8500 block of Alban Road in Newington. Soon after, a body was found.
Nighthawk Investigate Services says his car was moved to that location sometime between June 27 and 29. It was not clear where it had previously been parked.
"The suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and person who moved his vehicle to this location is an ongoing investigation," Nighthawk said in a Facebook post, urging those with information to reach out.
Ward's family announced on a Facebook page Wednesday, July 6 that the body was his. Identification was pending results of an autopsy conducted by the medical examiner, police said.
Ward had last been seen at Navy Federal ATM in Woodbridge around 1 p.m. May 25.
His worried family and friends launched Facebook and GoFundMe pages to raise awareness about his disappearance.
They said he was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching games at Revolutions Billiards and Bar in Springfield. That's exactly what he was doing hours before he went missing, they said.
Anyone with information is urged to contact police at 703-691-2131.
